How to Keep Fit in Dublin
Between the lectures, studying, exploring and meeting new people, it’s important to keep your body healthy throughout the college year. Luckily for you, Dublin city offers so many choices that you won’t find it hard to keep fit here (with a little bit of effort of course!). Check out our recommendations below and find the right mode of movement for you!
Gym
The gym can be an intimidating place, but this is not the case at Point Campus. Our gym and fitness studio is exclusive to students, which means you can work out with friends and friendly faces in peace. Our staff are more than happy to help with any queries you may have. Last year, we ran some exciting fitness classes for our residents and this year we have even more of these planned so be sure to check in with your on-site team, to find out more.
Hiking
If you are someone who prefers being outdoors, why not give hiking a try? There are some fantastic hiking locations in Dublin and in the neighbouring county of Wicklow, where you will find the Wicklow Mountains National Park with its glacial lakes, the famous Glendalough and even the remains of an early-medieval monastic settlement in a forested valley. The great thing about hiking is that it is a low-impact form of exercise, which brings you outdoors into nature and you need very little equipment to take part. Simply make sure you have a decent pair of shoes, a jacket and maybe some snacks for the walk. Another great hiking spot is the Dublin Mountains and last year we took some of our Point Campus student residents on a day trip there.

Rock Climbing & Bouldering
Rock climbing and bouldering are two extremely effective and fun forms of exercise. Its popularity has exploded in recent years in Dublin, with many colleges now home to climbing walls! Whether you’ve climbed before or not won’t matter with every centre catering to climbers of all levels. Exercising can seem like torture to many but when it’s wrapped in a fun activity like climbing, you’ll forget that you’re also getting in a fantastic workout.
Watersports
One of the highlights of living in Dublin is the city’s proximity to the sea and the abundance of rivers and canals that run through it. This makes Dublin a fantastic location for watersports. While surfing isn’t really possible on the Dublin coast, windsurfing, sea swimming and paddleboarding are all popular pastimes for any of you water babies out there. Point Campus is located less than 20 minutes walking distance from Grand Canal Dockyard, where last year we organised for a group of students to try paddleboarding on the canal thanks to our friends at Surfdock.
