You’ve Received a College Offer…Now What?

A long year of classes, homework and revision – your Leaving Certificate year is one you remember for a long long time. Are you a student who just received a college course offer? Here’s what to do next!

Acknowledge Your Achievement

We know that it took a lot of hours of hard work, concentration and perseverance to get to this point so be sure to acknowledge the good work you did over the past two years. It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement or disappointment of results week but it was no easy feat to get to here, so give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it!

Accepting Your College Offer

Each student has their own unique login details for the ‘My Application’ section of the CAO website which is where you will have found your course offer. This is also where you can accept (or defer) any offer you receive. Don’t forget that only one offer can be accepted and the date and time by which it will lapse will be shown next to it. With the uncertainty of course offerings this year, it’s important to think long and hard and to be certain that you are happy with whatever course offer you choose to accept. If you do not receive an offer for your first choice course but a spot does become available to you in the next few weeks, you can still take a place in your preferred course at that time.

Celebrate

Now that the admin side of the offer is complete, you can now celebrate this huge milestone…you’re going to college! Whether you’re heading out on the town or taking it easy with a few friends be sure to celebrate this achievement – it’s a big one!

Accommodation

With results coming a bit late, there is always a bit of a scramble for accommodation once students finally know where they will be studying for the next year. It’s important to get on top of this soon if you want to find a suitable home for the year ahead. Three of the most popular options include on-campus accommodation, renting digs near the college and purpose-built student accommodation such as Point Campus.

Sorting out your student accommodation in Ireland is never the most stress-free activity, but if you’re going to be attending a college in Dublin, Point Campus can solve that problem for you! Our all-inclusive student accommodation is located in Point Village in the heart of Dublin’s regenerated docklands and is ideal for anyone studying in Dublin.
